WHAT IS AN ACE BOOK?

It is an illustrated encyclopaedic storybook written in two different languages - one in English, which all children can understand, and one in Lithuanian, which will help foreign-born children to get to know the alphabet and the words of this language.
A large number of children living abroad do not have Lithuanian as their first language, and some do not speak it at all. This makes it difficult to find an affordable way to learn about and read about their roots

WHAT IS THE ACE BOOK ABOUT?

The story of the book is about a deep-sea fish called Ace and his journey to find a homeland where he can put down roots. Ace was tragically kidnapped from his home one night and lost in the most remote part of Lithuania. Unplanned and against his will, the deep-pocketed boy finds himself far from home and has to overcome a multitude of challenges in order to reach his destination.
During his journey, the woodpecker makes new friends in the forest. Tony the pet owl, Timofey the circus-cast bear and Finn the reed-lover help Ace find the long, difficult way home. Not only his new forest friends, but also the people he meets - naturalist Tadas Ivanauskas, scientist Jonas Basanavičius and pilot Steponas Darius - help him. These characters lead the giliuk towards home through various parts of Lithuania. The giliuk keeps a record of his journey in a small, battered notebook, which he has kept with him since he was kidnapped.
