About the turntable

Inheriting Technics' proven direct drive system, the SL-40CBT is upgraded for modern living with a compact, stylish body, Bluetooth connectivity and a natural warm wood matt finish.

Made from MDF, a wood-based material with fine laminated fibres that adds a calm warmth and a subtle impression and harmony to any living space.

Tonearm

The turntable design inherits the traditional S-shape and delivers high tracking performance through micron-level precision engineering.

Needle head

The included Audio-Technica AT-VM95C head has a tapered needle for clear sound. The integrated phono EQ ensures optimal performance.

Plate drum

Robust rotation and precise control are achieved with a 1.26 kg die-cast aluminium disc with reinforced edges and a directly attached motor magnet.

Turntable isolator

Excellent vibration resistance and reduced hum are achieved thanks to newly tuned isolators. Its rubber hardness is optimised to move resonance beyond the audible range.

Digital control

Digital control increases rotational accuracy to the highest level thanks to: 1) accurate speed setting; 2) precise calibration during manufacturing; and 3) digitally optimised motor drive signals.

Circular layout

The separate PCB boards for the power supply, motor control and background equaliser are located away from the sampler, using wire connections without cross-connections. This minimises sound distortion.

PHONO circuit

Built-in MM phono equaliser for optimum tuning. Combined with the highest quality components and housing, it ensures clear sound with minimal noise.

Eco-friendly packaging materials

The SL-40CBT uses eco-friendly packaging, replacing the packaging protectors with cardboard to reduce the amount of plastic waste polluting the sea.
