Although the price is affordable, there's nothing arbitrary about it: it's serious engineering housed in a simple, neat casing.

Components That Make for Great Sound

E1.2 comes with Pick it MM E a cartridge developed in collaboration with Ortofon. Its lightweight design and neodymium magnet help it accurately track the record’s grooves, while the diamond stylus ensures clear, balanced, and musical sound reproduction.

The 730-gram damped aluminum platter is carefully balanced at the factory to ensure stable rotation and minimize unwanted vibrations. It is complemented by a CNC-machined aluminum tonearm with a precision gimbal-type bearing and an oversized counterweight, which help ensure precise tracking and stable operation.

Connect to whatever you want

The built-in, switchable phono preamp allows you to E1.2 Phono Connect directly to any amplifier or active speakers. If you decide to use an external phono preamp in the future, you can easily disable the built-in equalizer.

Made in Europe

Each E1.2 is hand-assembled at the Pro-Ject factory in the Czech Republic. The stainless steel spindle in a bronze bearing ensures smooth rotation, while the vibration-damping feet help reduce vibrations transmitted from the surroundings. The set also includes an acrylic dust cover.

About Pro-Ject

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate phono preamp?
No. The E1.2 Phono has a built-in, switchable phono preamp, so you can connect your turntable directly to an amplifier or active speakers with a standard Line or CD input. If you decide to use an external phono preamp in the future, you can turn off the built-in one.

Does the record player need to be broken in before use?
No. Every E1.2 is pre-adjusted at the factory—the tonearm and tracking force are set up and ready to go. All you have to do is put on the cartridge, thread the belt, and plug in the turntable.

What sets this record player apart in its class?
The E1.2 uses components more commonly found in higher-end models: a Pick it MM E cartridge, a 730-gram damped aluminum platter, and a CNC-machined aluminum tonearm with a precision gimbal-type bearing. This ensures stable operation, precise tracking, and high-quality vinyl playback.

Can I replace the cartridge or the needle?
Yes. The Pick it MM E cartridge needle is replaceable. Like all turntable needles, it wears out naturally, so after about 1–2 years (depending on usage and the condition of the records), it is recommended to replace it to maintain good sound quality and prevent damage to the records.

Where was this record player manufactured?
Every E1.2 is hand-assembled at the Pro-Ject factory in the Czech Republic—from the preparation of the chassis to final assembly and quality control.
