About the turntable

The Pro-Ject T2 Super Phono is designed for those who want a more serious turntable with high-quality components, but without the hassle of complicated setup. Each turntable is pre-adjusted at the factory, so all you have to do is install the platter, put on the belt, and connect it to your audio system.

Behind the clean design lies a carefully thought-out construction—high-quality components, precise assembly, and features more commonly found in higher-end turntables.

Components That Make for Great Sound

The T2 Super Phono comes equipped with a pre-installed Sumiko Rainier MM cartridge, handcrafted in Japan. It accurately reproduces instruments and vocals, while the diamond stylus ensures a clean, balanced, and musical sound. If desired, the stylus can later be upgraded to a higher-end Sumiko Oyster series stylus.

The massive tempered glass platter provides weight and stability and suppresses unwanted resonance. It is complemented by a longer, one-piece 9″ aluminum tonearm with an integrated headshell and a precision, low-friction bearing. A new spring-loaded anti-skate mechanism simplifies setup and improves needle tracking. The chassis is constructed without plastic parts or hollow cavities to prevent unnecessary internal vibrations.

High-quality phono preamp

The Super Phono differs from the base T2 model in that it features a built-in phono preamp based on the design of the standalone “Pro-Ject Phono Box S2.” This means that the preamp is significantly higher quality than those typically built into amplifiers or receivers. The turntable can be connected directly to powered speakers or an amplifier with a standard line input—no additional equipment required. If you decide to use an external phono preamp in the future, the built-in preamp can be disabled.

Made in Europe

Each T2 Super Phono is hand-assembled at the Pro-Ject factory in Europe. A hardened steel spindle in a bronze bearing ensures smooth rotation, while vibration-dampening feet help reduce vibrations transmitted from the environment. The package also includes an acrylic dust cover and high-quality phono cables specially designed by Pro-Ject.

About Pro-Ject

"Pro-Ject Audio Systems"—a brand founded in Austria in 1991—is today considered one of the world's best-known manufacturers of vinyl turntables. Pro-Ject’s philosophy is simple: high-quality analog sound should be accessible to everyone. All turntables are assembled in Europe, and even the more affordable models incorporate features typically found in significantly more expensive units. The T2 Super Phono perfectly embodies this approach—it is a high-quality Hi-Fi turntable built to last.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate phono preamp? No. The T2 Super Phono has a high-quality built-in phono preamp (based on the “Pro-Ject Phono Box S2” design), so you can connect the turntable directly to powered speakers or an amplifier with a standard line input. If you want to use an external preamp in the future, you can disable the built-in one.

How is Super Phono better than a standard built-in equalizer? The Super Phono preamp is based on the design of the standalone “Pro-Ject Phono Box S2,” so it outperforms most phono preamps built into amplifiers or receivers. The signal is transmitted at a higher level, which reduces the likelihood of noise.

Does the record player need to be broken in before use? No. Every T2 Super Phono is pre-adjusted at the factory—the tonearm and tracking force are set up and ready to go. All you have to do is put on the platter, attach the belt, and plug in the turntable.

Can the needle be replaced? Yes. The Sumiko Rainier stylus is replaceable, and you can improve the sound quality simply by purchasing a higher-end stylus from the Sumiko Oyster series. Like all turntable needles, it naturally wears out over time, so it’s recommended to replace it as a preventive measure.

Where was this record player manufactured? Every T2 Super Phono is hand-assembled at the Pro-Ject factory in Europe—from the preparation of the chassis to final assembly and quality control.
